Motherhood(a.k.a jedi) from a Non-Mother

Hello bloggist,

It is mother’s day weekend!  As I do not have kids I do not know the wonderful joys of mother-ship other than my mother herself but she is my best friend and an amazing woman and I am proud to celebrate her this Sunday! If there is anyone out there like me who is unsure what to get their awesome sauce mother here are a few tips and then a rant about my mother.

Since I am only 21 years young, my husband and I have chosen not to have kids. I don’t really want them, and i don’t have to explain myself but maybe one day when I am much older that will change. Until then, I spend my mother’s days thanking the three (yes i have three mother’s I am one lucky girl) women that have put in the time to be a mother to me.  (These are not in order of preference or anything, I love all of these women).

Firstly, my mother and my best friend. Angel (rightly named so) is an amazing woman. and I am very much like her (maybe a tad more cocky). She painstakingly raised me and put up with every single horrid thing I threw at her as a child and teenager. Now, as my best friend she is someone I confide in, I laugh with, and I cherish   I am a better person because of her. Thank you..I love you, Mom.

Secondly, my step-mother Candy. She is a wonderful woman who also put up with my crap as well as handling the fact that as a child I didn’t understand or want a step mom. She has been there on the side-lines ready to be there whenever I need her, even though she didn’t have to be. I am a better person because of her.Thank you… I love you , Candy.

And last though in no way least, my mother-in-law Jeri. She is also an awesome woman, who came into my life swiftly and with an entire new family. She has embraced me with open arms and her home to me. It may only be a few short years, but Jeri makes me feel like I have been apart of the family forever. I am a better person because of her. Thank you for not only raising the man of my dreams, but for accepting me with nothing be love in mind..I love you, Jeri.

Motherhood is a choice you make everyday to put someone else’s happiness and well-being ahead of your own. To teach hard lessons  To do the right thing, even when you’re not sure what the right thing is. And to forgive yourself over and over again for doing everything wrong.

If you have small children or toddlers these might be some fun activities for you to do.

There’s no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one.

For those (like me) who like to be a little funny around mother’s day.

Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother.

And to those who like to be crafty (or think they are pretty good at being crafty like me).

Remember, to tell her how much you love her and how awesome sauce she really is.

What are you doing for your mother this weekend??
